Selling my 2006 Mk 5 Golf GTI. Family life means that something bigger is needed, so regrettably it’s time for someone else to give the car the love it deserves.
The car is in generally good condition but is starting show its age with a few nicks and scratches and signs of wear on the upholstery and carpet. It drives really well and great fun to drive. Newish tires, aftermarket head unit installed with wireless Carplay and Android Auto. Updated headlamps and eyelids. Neat and tidy all around.
Known Issues and notes
• The car had a loss of oil pressure once about a year ago which may have weakened the engine, never happened again though and seems fine. (If worse comes to worst a 2nd-hand engine replacement is around $2200 plus labour). I have priced the car accordingly.
• Small engine oil leak.
• Suspension boots perished, possible seal leak.
• Left rear door actuator needs replacing, door doesn’t lock automatically (have a replacement) – known Golf issue.
• Slow electrical power leak – battery drains after about a fortnight if not regularly run.
• Roof headliner starting to fall away at rear of car – already repaired once – known Golf issue.
• Front right door has been resprayed (badly by me – dented the door- was not in an accident)
• Brakes are due for service (have replacement brake pads)
• Rear wheel alignment at maximum
• General chips and scratches in line with age of car
• Rear camera not installed to head unit (have camera)
