1982 Holden Commodore SL/E in Mount Isa, QLD. Where to start. I bought this 82 VH SL in May 08 from the original owner. It had 289,000 original k’s with logbooks and had been garaged since new. It was a 186 trimatic. I have completely stripped the car to a bare shell. I’ll explain each section. Body – Car was stripped to bare metal. Modifications include bodylines removed including quarter panel body lines, deleted aerial hole and passenger key lock, boot seams smoothed and VR/VS fuel filled cap added with release level mounted. Body was etched and 2Pac High Build Primer was layed down followed by 5 generous coats of Harley Davidson Black Cherry Pearl Base and Clear Coat. Paintjob looks A1 and will impress anyone. Big $$$ Spent. Interior – The backseat is a SL/E item covered in coffee colour velour trim along with the headrests. New Buckskin carpet and 4 Point Alloy Roll Cage with padding fitted. Custom rear parcel shelf housing Carbon Fibre Cone and Silk Tweeter POLK Audio Speaker running off Sony 222W 2 Channel Amp. Front door pods house similar speaker hooked up to Kenwood 250W Amp. Eenon 65W x 4 DVD Head unit fitted with remote and 2 x 12inch Rockford Fosgate P2 Subwoofers fitted to boot with Blaupunkt 1400W Mono Block Amp. A B&M Pro ratchet shifter, Autometer Carbon Fibre Monster Tacho and Water Temp gauges are also fitted. Mechanical – The original 186 and trimatic were replaced by a warm turbo pattern 308 and T400 gearbox. Engine came out of WB Statesman and was built by Higgerbottoms (Think that is how you spell it). The motor has currently done 80,000 k’s and sound beautiful through HM Headers and custom twin 2 ˝ inch into 3 inch tuned exhaust system. It has a Rochester Carby which is just poking through the bonnet thanks to a 3inch carby spacer. Car has been completely been rewired by Electrocool Auto Electricians. Gearbox is a brand new Turbo 400 built to handle 700 hp. It has all Stainless internals, B&M deep pan, 2500 B&M Stall Converter, Stage 2 Kit that shifts very hard. This puts power to a Salisbury 10 Bolt diff with minispool centre. This whole package equals a very nice street cruiser with power there if you need it. All Mods have been Blue Plated. It is fitted with “Weld Draglite” rims, 15 x 7 rears and 15 x 4 front and they suit the car to the ground. Anyways enough rambling, all in all this is one of the best examples of a VH around and I am going to really miss her but under strict instructions from the wife it has to go to use the money for other things.
